Lesson 38 -
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
You never get a second chance to make a first impression, yet that simple fact is by no means as obvious and well-understood a phenomenon as it should be.
First impressions count. In each new encounter, you’re being evaluated. It’s estimated people form first impressions in somewhere between 7 seconds and 2 minutes, and it’s nearly impossible to undo. So, making a good first impression is paramount, because you only get one shot.
It probably comes as no surprise, but when you have a good attitude, you’re more likely to present yourself to others in a positive light. Good impressions can lead to many potential benefits: more friends, a good partner, better pay, more opportunities and many other plusses.
Whereas, if you have a negative attitude, you may experience just the opposite in all of these scenarios. When it’s put like that, the choice seems pretty clear, doesn’t it?
Every encounter presents an opportunity to meet people, build lasting relationships by making a positive first impression. You’ve only got one chance – but if you handle it well, one chance is all you need!
Today’s lesson is: You never get a second chance to make a first impression, so make it count!
