Lesson 29 -
Stop mourning the loss of a life once lived and start rejoicing in the life ahead.
At times all go through periods of loss. The loss of jobs, ending of relationships, loss of health, the loss of life as we knew it.
Over the past 12 months we have all gone through a period of change as we adapted to life in the midst of Covid. In such times it is easy to lament the losses of a bygone era, to get stuck into cycles of trying to recreate the past while trying to adapt to the present.
We miss life as we knew it. Consider Covid, we miss meeting our friends, family and colleagues, social events, parties and much more.
Experience has taught me no amount of wishing for a life we once had will bring it back. It is better to savour what we have learned from our experiences and celebrate what is yet to come. When we spend too much time looking in the rear-view mirror, we miss all that is in front and around us.
Any transitions (physical, relationships, work and geographical) involve both mourning and rejoicing. How do you manage these transitions in your life?
My 29th lesson is, stop mourning the loss of a life once lived and start rejoicing in the life ahead. Remember the past has got you to where you are today but don’t forget to savour the present as soon that too will be part of your back-story.
