Lesson 22 -
You can’t buy experience, but it comes at a cost.
You can’t buy experience, but it comes at a cost.
We gain experience through action. When things turn out well, we label them a success, when they don’t, we label them experience, and they come at a cost. There is a level of toil to be endured before we grow. Experience is not just doing something; it’s LEARNING from it, when we cannot find some form of a shortcut or teacher.
Experience is everywhere. Life itself, is a great teacher, as young children we learned about gravity through trying to defy it. We paid for it in the form of the cuts, scrapes and bruises.
We often talk about experience in positive undertones, however there are learning experiences that bring stress and pain. The loss of a job, a loved one, a relationship breakup all come at a significant cost. Learning from experience can be expensive and painful. However well or not it goes, experience exacts a price, whether it’s a toll on your finances, your mental health, or your physical health. But not every experience comes at a huge cost, sometimes it is just pocket change.
You get to decide how much you’re willing to pay for learning experiences. Learning from your them means you won’t have to go through it again and maybe you will decide to share your experience with another to reduce their costs.
