Lesson 21 -
Don’t judge someone until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes.
What do you know?
It’s not possible to know someone else whole story; even the most open hold something back. Until you’re in their shoes you won’t know why they did or didn’t do something.
We often judge people based on the behaviour we see or what others tell us. Yet, all is seldom as it seems. Sometimes we forget where we came from.
A loaf of bread may appear unfit to eat if the door is opened midway, because we have interfered with the baking process. We view a snap shot in time, we didn’t see the ingredients that went into baking it, nor did we see it steadily rise. Like the loaf, we don’t know the point at which we are viewing another in their life, or what they may be struggling with.
Today’s lesson, don’t judge someone until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes, is a reminder not to assume you know where they are coming from or going. We cannot see through their eyes, hear through their ears, or experience their emotions. We see and respond to events in different ways, and even If we had the same experience, we may have reacted differently. You may relate their experiences to your own, however, remain open minded. We are all unique.
