Lesson 10 -
If you want to be great at the job, you have to love the work.
To be happy and fulfilled, you’ve got to love your work. It’s often said that when you find a career or job you love you’ll never work a day in your life. Yet the irony is that the more you enjoy your work, the harder you’ll work.
You’ll come across people that show disdain for how hard you work, that’s fine, it’s their choice! When you work hard in a career you love you’ll reap the rewards – but be careful not to work so hard that your life passes you by.
If you aim to be the best at whatever work you turn your hand to, even if you miss your target, you’ll be in a better position than the person that doesn’t.
Find what works for you and how you’re most productive - don’t waste your time being disorganised, approaching everything in a haphazard manner, working at suboptimal times and leaving everything to the last minute.
People often pick their careers randomly - really think hard about what you like, in what fields could you be successful, and try to talk to people in those fields.
Don’t be afraid of taking some risks. It’s becoming rarer and rarer that people stick with a job for life. Step outside of your comfort zone, embrace the uncertainty, you never know where it may lead you.
